@ABitRusty Finished the sweater last night. Put it away. The sweater is actually one that fits and that I will wear. First one like that!

I just added to Stringy's Spring Plant party. I can now get back to Sweet Jenny Jones!

By the way, via conversation with Fiddlerman, you can post a video or audio file in the party room that does not show you playing, if you are not after a badge. We are after participation, so if you want to add to that, feel free. I added an mp3 audio file.

This morning I was working on the viola part of Sweet Jenny Jones. I forgot how much I like my viola because I have been spending more time with my cello and violin.

I think that after I am more comfortable with my viola part, I will record my cello part and listen to that with my earbuds while playing my viola. That will be interesting...but fun.

I am pleased that if you are not after a badge in the Party Room, you can post audio or videos that so not show you playing. I am hoping we get some creative videos. It is. party room, and we should have fun.Plus, some who just don't show themselves, can now participate. I was able to load two mp3 files to JohnG's party because of this.

I need to smooth out my viola Sweet Jenny Jones. I will add it here after I get it better. I will do the cello last, although, that might be a backwards way of doing it, but what can I say. I do a lot of things backwards. Makes for more fun. But is probably why my foresight is so bad! 😂😂😂😂 Hindsight pretty good!

I am in a bit of a conundrum. I am finding it easier to do violin than cello, except for the E string, which I will get eventually. Please no vids showing it, appreciate the thought, but not helpful. I think the viola would be the same, except, I haven't tried it of late.

I do find that I still prefer it over my violin, I love the deep sound, but I am having issues, probably associated with aging. Not going into the specific issues in here. I am not sure if I should go with whatever is telling me to do more violin, or put up with it and do more cello anyway.

I do not dislike my violins. Not at ll, I just like the mellow cello. I have not done shifting in my violin. I may find that is more difficult horizontally on a violin or viola fingerboard that it is in a slanted vertical cello vertical fingerboard, how I love shifting on my cello.

The violin and viola are more portable, and I can go out on my porch or back deck easily, but I do like the cello sound. I like the happier songs I can do on my violin, but that cello sound...

I have shied away from all for a while, I know kind of weird. It is sad. I can still play my cello, but sessions are shorter, and have to be. few days apart.

I have some things to get done here, then I am going to have to do some serious thinking.

Why not go with the)0 violin for a week and see how you miss the Cello, you should never play in pain though.

Good thing about the violin, you don't have to move out of first position really, so you don't have to shift if you don't want to.

@Mouse -

Have you thought of trying Helicore Octave strings on your violin & tuning down?

Hope you had a beautiful Mother's Day!

I don't do all that messing around. I tried Helicore regular strings before and couldn't stand them. I just didn't like them at all.

I did put violin strings on my wall piece 15 inch viola. That is kind of interesting. We bought it at a pawn shop for $10. Jer liked the looks, it is cute. We didn't want it tossed. Would not have laid more for it, though. 😂

I was able to play my cello for a little while yesterday and it seemed stronger, Maybe I needed a rest. 🤞

Thanks for visiting. Did you enjoy your cheese?

I did a little on my violin today. I played some pieces from a book my daughter got me. Not sure which one I want to work on. I am leaning towards two. There is one that I simply cannot get the rhythm, timing and/or beat right, that is not one of the two.

I played:

Boys id the Town

Carraroe Jig

Coleman' Jig

The Humours of Glendart

The Banks of the Bann

At Éirinn Ní Nosfainn Cé hí  (For Ireland I'd Not Tell Her Name)

Gartan Mother's Lullaby

Óró, Mo Bháidín (My Wee Boat)

Sí Beag, Sí Mór (Little Hill, Big Hill)

Sliabh na mBan (Mountain of the Women)

Battle of Aughrim

That said, it was fun.

I decided to go out in my deck and play my violin this evening. Of course, 5 minutes after I get started, my nephew comes up the tractor drive beside the house and started raking, or whatever, the field right out back. I was going to actually record myself. Oh well, I just played in the dust and noise.

Then I was packing things up to bring inside. My neighbors texted me. They liked it. I think they have tin ears. 😂😂😂. They said it was beautiful, really? I think they were listening to the tractor.

@ABitRusty , Not hay. They were dragging or something, maybe it wasn't raking. It is dirt right now, I kept hearing a rock now and then, and dirt dust was flying in the air. I am not a farmer, so I am not positive what he was dong.

But, yes, it is fun to just go outside and play. It sounds a lot different. I broight the aring bow outside, and that made a difference. Lice and learn.

That would be so much fun! Fiddle while the grandkids play and/or dance around. My granddaughters would dance. They love dancing. You really need to do it.

I might take my violin out again this evening. The hay from the neighboring farm has all been cut and trucked off, they were doing that yesterday evening, also, but were pretty much done when I went out. Then my nephew drove up along the side of the house to the field behind us. My nephew is done with the lot behind us, so should be quieter, and not dusty. We might have storms in the evening though, 🤞.

A  long time ago there was a farmer up on a hill up the road from us. He used to play opera music for his cows in the barn, we could hear it, too. Not a fan of opera, but it was funny to listen to, knowing it was for the cows. Our dog liked it. The dog was old and had bad hearing. LOL He was old when we got him. We gave him a nice retirement home. Someone else owns that opera farm now.

Oh well, coffee is done.

I am having issues with that bowing for Sweet Jenny Jones. Imhabe problems with anything except simple straight bowing, and that is not pretty! 😂 I keep trying, though.

Bummer. Did my viola again, now my left hand is sore. That has not happened in quite a while. I will have to rest it again.

Not to worry, I will be back in shape again. I am not sure if it is not just coincidence. I had been doing other things for a while. Might have just been time to give it a rest. Dang, though. I was doing pretty good. Same issues with the same nites, but those notes I have no issue with were really nice. It is the positioning of some notes that are giving me issues. Maybe, I will be able to go back to violin in a couple days. That is not bothersome. I am actually enjoying it, and getting better.

Back again. I am hoping to get some playing time in after I get caught up with everything, everywhere. Been away for a little while.

I did run through my violin pieces that I have memorized last night. I have been away for a little while, so I haven't played in a while.

I was thinking of how @ABitRusty and @stringy play and actually held the violin looser. Well, I just let the beck rest in my hand where it is supposed to be, rather than grip. My fingering pretty much held it secure, and I was not pressing hard for that, either. It actually felt pretty darn secure, and comfortable. I was quite surprised.

It sounded different. Had a mellower sound, it was my Fiddlerman violin that I was playing. It just felt and sounded better. I din't know if it was what I was doing, or because I was away for a little while.

We will see how it goes the next time. We are busy today with a new cleaning toy to make things easier for me. It will take a while. My daughter, we were visiting her and her family, has one, and it was fantastic. We ordered one. Setting it up now. It is mapping the floor plan, and mopping. I hope it works as great for us.

Anyway, I hope to do more in my violin later today, or tomorrow.

I miss my girls already! I missed the 6:30 am wakeup call (I am already awake then anyway), and the morning time with them. Next year, 🥴 we will be back.

Loose and supple is the way to go. I used to get bad shoulder and neck pain from gripping too hard, I still have a tendency to press to hard with my chin on the rest, but have no tension at all in my hand or arm. I have been working on my bowing just lately as I was wandering everywhere, lot straighter now though :)

One step forward two steps back, I wonder is there anything that is easy to learn with violin lol.

I like the sound of that cleaner, is it one of those robots that go on their own?

@stringy It is Roborock. We had it map floor plan and mop while it was at it this morning. Did a great jog. Went back to the dock to empty the dirty water and refill with clean a couple times, but the tank was big enough to hold all the water it needed. It vacuumed then mopped the section it was mapping. Sure saved the back. The floor is very shiny and the one carpeted room is really nice.

She had the first version that came out by ankther company years ago. It was not very good. This one is relly good. We can name each section of the floor plan and schedule it to clean, or just start it up and let it rip. Shan has he three levels mapped and has a schedule. It was fun watching it. I was surprised Butter, her dog, gets along with it, 😂.

Butter is the only dog that I am not afraid of. I was when I first met her, but bow, when I visit, it is to see Butter, too. She always welcomes me and wants pets and hugs. I oblige,

This afternoon I made this card for a favorite brother-in-law. He had is second knee replaced. He had the other knee and a hip done already. This one seems more like mine, very painful recovery. His hip and other knee were not bad.

IMG_1706.jpegImage EnlargerIMG_1707.jpegImage Enlarger

(These are blurry because I downsized the file size.)

I took dies and stamps from different sets. The inside sentiment are two stamps from the same stamp set. I thought the "Wishing You a Speedy Recovery" went well with the turtle. I knew I wanted to use one of my turtles. The "Don't worry you've got this" is from that turtle set.

I am not sure about the cardstock. I kind of like it. It all came from the same 12x12 single side pack, except the turtle. At least they coordinate, because they were from the same 12x12 cardstock pad. I am making myself use cardstock I already have. I am not buying anymore.

I am trying to get back in to this, more. I need to plan my time better because there are so many things I want to do! 😂😁.

I had to rest my right hand today, so it was a good time to do it, plus, my brother-in-law did have his knee replaced.

I think my hand will be sidelined tomorrow, too.
