I have been completely taken by the quality and value of the http://StreetJelly.com site. Here is where you not only have the opportunity to perform for limitless audiences but also attend great live performances without ever leaving your home.

The site is invaluable for a musician whether you are new or experienced. It is also a great way to work on your nerves, share your music, be expressive, meet people, and even earn some cash.

I strongly encourage you to perform on streetjelly for it’s unlimited benefits and motivation and to post your upcoming events or those of anyone you recommend or cherish on this forum.

Oh yes - good point about the fans list now you mentioned it Barry - everyone should not only ADD you fave performers but also make sure you also select e-mail notification - you'll get emails when folks set up a scheduled performance, and you'll also get emails if they "just do an impromptu / unscheduled performance" and go live...

EDIT: yup - I had to do some addition as well... LOL

Sorry guys, It's probably only on this new forum. I need to adjust the settings for the new forum and it should all be cool. Let me know if there are any other forums that you are required to do math on. :)

Thanks for the updates Barry.

I am trying to figure out the electronics of all this.  I have 16.0.0.305 flash player, google chrome, windows 8 laptop.

The laptop has a camera and mic.

Now what?

@Schaick - that's about all you need to "get off the ground" - although a set of headphones will be useful for the test.. (plus an instrument when going live! LOL).  Log on to SJ and select Broadcast.    You'll find a "Test" button on the page.  Click it - no-one but you will see and hear it....   In the "This is what the viewers see" window - click the "Play" icon in the middle....  There will be a bit of lag....  but you should see and hear yourself.  Reason for headphones is to eliminate the endless feedback that would occur

I use a separate mic - I found the internal one in the lappy picked up fan rumble...

Have fun....

Oh yes - if you RIGHT click in the "This is what you see" window, you can access some "Settings" to either select which cam or sound source to use (if you have more than one), and can adjust the mic levels....

I had to play around in the "Test" mode for a while before I got the thing to work.

I have my favorites set up with email notification, but as yet have not received any emails. Is there a trick or something I need to check?

I was stuck for ages to get any email notification.    Emailed SJ support and Frankie spent a bit of time trouble-shooting but to no avail.   My email address is in the UK and my ISP is BT Internet (the primary UK wide service and infrastructure provider).  But emails simply never got through.  Eventually, I set up a gmail.com account, used THAT as my SJ email, and in the gmail account I set up forwarding to my "actual" BT account (I just cannot handle multiple accounts, logging on and whatever - so it just "works away in the background" and forwards any incoming mail).

That has fixed it - we still don't know why the AWS mailer used by SJ won't hop-through to BT...   very strange....   Perhaps you have some kind of similar problem?   Just a shot in the dark....

In fact as I write this I received an email about Barry's scheduled performance for Friday 27th....

I receive all notifications now - including yours @Ripton -

I would like to thank Barry for everything he did in promoting the new "Fiddlerman Jamboree", which was completely his idea. Barry has presented many great ideas to help Fiddlerman.com in which I am eternally grateful for.

dancingThanks again Barry for your help and introducing us to StreetJelly. dancing

FiddleFest is an annual event created by and run by Barry completely seperate from the "Fiddlerman Jamboree".

Hey fiddlerman folks,

Barry here. Just wanted to let everyone know that I'll be doing a farewell to the viola concert on streetjelly.com this Sunday at 8PM central time USA. Im giving it up for a few reasons, physical pain , but also I feel its time to move forward with my songwriting and piano playing.

This has been a great 7 years, Ive made great friends and youve inspired me along the way. I hope that I inspired some of you as well. We sure have come a long way together, from posting scratchy simple things to friday night fiddlin' (remember those :)   )  to getting you guys to go on streetjelly...lol..had to nearly drag some of ya'll ,kickin'  and screamin' ..lol.  But go on you did and made me proud.

Ive watched you guys conquer fears and difficult tunes, weve laughed together, and even cried together.

So I hope you folks will come this Sunday as we bid my time as a fiddler farewell.

Oh, and yes, my fiddlerman concert viola and accessories will be up for sale after the show. I plan to sell it as a package deal..case,a couple chin rests,2 shoulder rests (one is the slipper) 2 bows, rosin, some method books ,Bach cello suite sheet music. It will be at a very good price.

You can contact me at [email protected]  if anyone is interested, Id like to give ya'll first shot at it before I advertise it elsewhere.

Heyyy - anyone interested in another "Fiddler Jelly Jam" session on SJ ?    Trying to keep interest up following @Barry 's departure from fiddle and viola and it's not fair to expect him to organize these things now.   He's given us plenty of inspiration and kick-started the SJ scene for us - let's keep it going !

I appreciate we are kind of in "holiday time" right now - but as a tentative suggestion how about next Sat or Sun ( 11th or 12th April ) ?

Any preferences ( both of date and time ) ?

Bill

Good thought, Bill! We should definitely keep the SJ jams going. I can't do next Saturday, 4/11, but I might be able to do a Sunday evening show.

thumbs-up

When the work's all done and the sun's settin' low,

I pull out my fiddle and I rosin up the bow.

Thanks Diane and Steve - OK - Sunday 12th it is.   I'll kick it off at 8pm GMT which will be early afternoon for you folks across the pond, just so as I can actually play something before it gets too late for me.   Basically, if you can manage, just grab a slot on SJ that doesn't overlap any other of "our" players.   Stick "Fiddlers Jelly Jam xx mins" in your headline so others will know how long you plan to be on for.  I've just set mine up....

Thanks guys !
