I have to push the CRITTER tune boundary again - for good reason!
The Dust Busters with John Cohen - a tune from their "Old Man Below" album.
Don't think I already posted this Vi Wickam video.
Hawk's Got a Chicken, and Flew in the Woods
Here's a CRITTER tune I MUST LEARN! Just saw Megan Lynch Chowning has a great tutorial for this at FIDDLEVIDEO, so I better take advantage of it while I still have a subscription. Several other people have tutorials for it - this tutorial is from JohnsFiddleLessons at BluegrassDaddy.
'A' Part is major - 'B' Part minor (my favorite)!
Anyone know the names in the Barnyard? Some sound familiar, but nothing off the top of my head.
...can't help but have fun with this music. 😆

You keep throwin' roadkill in my backyard & this is what you git! 🤣
"Turkey Buzzard" played by John Hartford!
Not Old Time, but Western - "Old Turkey Buzzard", theme to "Mackenna's Gold" (1969).
Written by Quincy Jones, sung by José Feliciano - was also used as a running gag on "Late Show With David Letterman" in 2007 (Wikipedia), but I never found anything about David Letterman very funny...

It's understandable that type of tune developed for dancing - being more about rhythm and beat, than a melody.
Just was listening to many more of La Bottine Souriante's tunes. They are very devoted to traditional Québécois folk music with the Podorythmie and I shouldn't be surprised that I ran across quite a few of this type of tune in their repertoire.
...thought you'd get a laugh out of "Turkey Buzzard" (aka. Shoot That Turkey Buzzard) by John Hartford - it's an older tune, but guess you can add anything you want to the song - as long as "Shoot that Turkey Buzzard" gets thrown in there. Kinda reminded me of Arlo Guthrie's "Alice's Restaurant". 🤣
Here's just the Fiddle tune. The record says Fiddlin' Jim Burke, but the video description says played by Fiddlin' Doc Roberts & Asa Martin (1928) 🤔:

More CATS! ...and cross-tuned!
I don't remember seeing this one before, "Grey Cat on a Tennessee Farm".
Performed by Hillary Klug, she said:
This authentic Tennessee old-time tune was written by a Tennessee banjo player, Uncle Dave Macon. I recorded this tune in calico tuning (AEAC#) on my record, but I normally play it in GDAD tuning.

"The Quail Is a Pretty Bird" is a very nice, laid-back tune!
Thanx for sharing it!
While yer in a fowl mood, check out this trio on fiddle & clawhammer - think would go nice, too.
You might want to look at the link in the video description. 😊
...so nobody even noticed the video missing in my previous post... well I stuck that grey cat in there, now. (lol)

Seems like everything I've sampled from Lukas & Eden Pool all have the same feel - very similar, like this CRITTER tune "The Old Yeller Dog Come Trottin' through the Meeting House" - some extra-long tune names here, in this genre!
Now, Michael Ismerio couldn't keep the Cat on the Tennessee Farm, so he had to put the "Cat On A Leash"!
Thanks to Michael Ismerio, I'm having another fowl day, so "Crow Little Rooster"!

Not wanting to 'make Ducks and Drakes of this' thread, there's 2 versions you posted of "Ducks On The Millpond" in post #14, here and then the one I like - along with more info & version of "Ducks on The Pond", here:
This is Henry Reed's transcription from the "Fiddle Tunes of The Old Frontier", for "Ducks On The Pond" - at the Library of Congress:
