This will be my only comment on this. I am in the minority here. I would much prefer a traditional Christmas or Holiday song, not classical, hip hop, jazzed up traditional or whatever. Something like We Three Kings, It Came Upon A Midnight Clear (but not the fast version above that is jazzed up. I could not even identify it as that song, sorry), Chestnuts/Open Fire, Have yourself A Merry Little Christmas, etc. Deck the Halls is too fast. Tried that on my own a number of times.

I am not that far along on music that any of the others re actually doable, quite frankly, not my goal.

But, as I have said before, if it is something that does not appeal to me, or I cannot do, I can wait until the next project. I have to identify a song in order to play it. I cannot make heads nor tails of classical, jazz, hip hop, etc. I cannot make heads nor tails of songs with time signature not of the norm, or songs where the tome signature changes.  Then there are the sings with numerous flats and/or sharps in their key signature, or sharps and flats scattered throughout the song. I just cannot process those.

I realize most of you are able to do those songs, play in orchestras or groups where you have that experience, have more music education or knowledge, so, if that is what is decided upon, no biggy, I will enjoy listening to it. 😁

I am also more interested in Traditional in our particular setting. I really love a lot of the suggestions but they are great because of the way they were performed and we may have a hard time getting the same results.

CID, has great suggestions and what do you guys think of "Let it Snow"?

I love "Let It Snow"! Just not fond of when it snows after Christmas.

Most people said they'd be Happy with any Christmas GP & I'm no different.

I like the Newer Carols just as much as the Old!

Can you tell I just love Christmas time?

I'm your typical Christmas Grinch, but I'll be happy with Let It Snow.

I'm in as long as I'm able to return to playing by the recording deadline. (I haven't played at all in more than a month, due to whiplash from a car accident.)

Hello Everyone

I would be interested in trying to help this year in the Christmas project . Would need to know how soon we would need to get a video in . As well as the tempo that would be used to play . Thanks

@PWL - Thanks for your support!

Right now you don't need to do anything.

If "Let it Snow" is Fiddlerman's final decision, he will prepare the arrangement in parts for you to choose - 1st Violin, 2nd Violin, Viola and Cello/Bass.

Then he prepares a video performance, and tutorials.  Also "click tracks" you must listen to while you play - so we all stay in sync for the end result of the project.

Lastly, a deadline and any other pertinent info.

Of course you can always learn to play it on your own, but the Group Project could be in a different key or a different musical arrangement, etc...

LOVE YOUR ENTHUSIASM!

I am in for "Let it Snow".

Sounds appropriate for Florida?

"Let it Snow" is Fiddlerman's choice, so far.

Please,

"Let It Snow" has my support.

Just waiting for the sheet music to be issued.

Will there be a pizz bass part also? I'd be up for that, too.

Cool,

This just went form difficult to easy. :)

I'll start working on parts. Stay tuned. Sorry for my absence. I've been busier than ever despite, maybe because of, COVID19.

Cool !

I "stood back" from intervening in earlier suggestions, largely to allow our newer members to throw out and share ideas - and they were all GREAT by the way...

But sometimes, simpler is better.  I like the final choice- several reasons -

(1) It is a relatively simple melody line (and one that has scope for embellishment! :) ),

(2) harmonized parts become even easier to help the newer players get involved

(3) - not that it worries *ME* - ( I have NO opinion to express on this matter - as I say - it doesn't worry me at all ) - but the lyrics if you know them - carry no religious significance whatsoever as far as i can see - which - if - when they *do* can, understandably, sometimes exclude potential participants from taking part.

I'm all for it !

Yeah - bring it on !
