@johnAus -

That's a very interesting choice of material!

What did you use to cut it?

How does the magnetic coating effect the pickup?

I would love to hear how it sounds.

I made mine from the internal metal discs of a 3.5“ hard drive.

I am a beginner violinist that forgot how to play from lack of practice, but this sounded good.

I shaped the disks with a hack saw and then finished on a grinder wheel then used hand files for the more intricate sections and string rests.

I have since sold the violin to someone in Queens land.

Interesting sound. Does your current violin have a more traditional bridge? If so, do you find it different to bow with a more traditional bridge?

I don't have a current violin. I gave up the hobby. wife,  kids and tiktok took up all my free time lol.

The metal bridge was an exact replica/size of the wood bridge it came with. I made one for both the acoustic and electric violins and both sounsed really good to my classical music fan ears.

Kinda hard for me to tell, but the strings are ringing.

Do you feel the sound was a vast improvement over the wood bridge?  In otherwords, worth the trouble you went thru making it?

What did you end up using on the acoustic violin to keep the bridge from scratching the wood?

I was doing all this about 10 years ago. I can't remember what I used, if anything at all. If I had to use something I would experiment with a bike tire tube, paddle pop stick or if they were too thick, try baking paper or a slice of thin durable plastic, I'm thinking food packaging boxes cakes come in.

I found more pics of the first metal bridge I made.
