Hi, My name is Emily. I am turning 12 in August and I live in Mineola, New York. I have wanted an electric violin since I started playing in 4th grade. My friend got one for her birthday, and I was very envious. In school, I love learning songs and playing in the school concerts. I like my violin and all, but I also want to play something really cool and rock and roll, like the electric violin! If I had one, I would never be bored! My dad's side of the family is awesome at music, and my grandpa has been giving me music lessons for a long time. I would love to have lessons with an electric violin.  And I would write my own songs and perform for people I know. Plus, an electric violin would be an awesome birthday present!

Thanks for reading. Emily note

afro Welcome Emily.  Keep posting, be sure to check the rules of the competition, tell us about your musical background, what instruments do your family play? What sort of songs would you write, and who would you like to be like, who inspires you in the music world?  My daughter is the same age and plays the keyboard and sings like an angel, she sounds jazzy when she sings but really loves her indie-rock smile

Post some more angel …

I first started being intrested in music in elementry school. But we didn't have first and second violins. We played kind of slow songs too, and I was ready for a challenge. So I was happy when I got to Middle school this past year. We started to have first and second violins, and we played cooler songs like "Purple Haze" and "Viva la Vida." My grandpa and I practiced so I could get a good seat in the concerts ♥

My family plays all kinds of instruments. Actually, from what I've seen, they can play any instrument they pick up. My dad sings with a band, too. He has a few CDs out. He is especially good on the piano, and my grandpa is best at the trumpet.

If I were to write songs, they would be rock. My favorite type of music! I don't really have a particular person/band that inspires me, but I do like The Who and The Beetles :3

Hello,

I hope I'm not too late to enter for this. I think everyone that posted deserves the violin. I seek to enter because I'm at a crossroads of sorts. I played the flute from 5th through 9th grade in school. Orchestra was intimidating for me, so I decided to try band instead. Now, approaching 30, I wish I had started with orchestra and the violin all those years ago.

Last year I contemplated purchasing an electric violin to try out, but it proved to be too expensive. Being a college student and living in an apartment made it out of reach for me; I'm in the same situation at present, but I've been very inspired by music this year and have been trying to pick up music again.

I've always loved classical music and the violin is so passionate, and such an expressive instrument that it really tugs on my heart's strings. I bought a ukulele earlier this year to learn to play but it doesn't seem capable of expressing me like I want it to. There is something about the violin that has drawn me to it- I would really love to learn to play one.

I'm trying to grow as a person, and to learn to believe in and appreciate myself for who I am. It's been a life long struggle for me. It's also been a life long struggle to find something I am truly passionate about. I have the hope that the violin will fill that void for me. Watching people play the violin is truly amazing and inspiring and makes me yearn to play.

While I know I'm not as deserving as most people on here to win the violin, those are the reasons why I hope I'm given the chance to. Those reasons, as well as an electric violin with headphones would be so much easier to practice with as well as easier on the occupants of the apartments around me!

Thank you for your time in reading this post, and have a wonderful day.

afro Thank you so much dunno I feel I may have got the title wrong it was such a long time ago, still this is lovely.  I really appreciate what you've done, and so quickly :-)

I will be helping my son get ready for his grade 1 in the Flute, and my sight reading abilitiy has stayed with me since I learned the violin when I was 11, (same age as my son).  Considering I have never played since and I'm now 46, there's something to be said about a sound education in music, especially in the formative years.  He began with Cello but the school changed hands and discontinued that so he opted for flute, but I know fully well that he's a cellist through and through. violin  Thanks again Fiddlerman, you rock!

Posting the music for someone is one of the biggest reasons that I love this sight. First as a novice in music I am so impressed that you can hear a song and quickly write it out. Second I am so impressed that you took the time to find the song, listen to it, and then post it. Truly I appreciate your talents and your sincere efforts at sharing them with others. Thank you.

I don't know if I should post reply or not..

I read some of the reply posts.

young kids trying to learn violin.. but don't have money to buy..

When I was around that age, I was tired of playing violin.

Everyday practice practice practice. violin-student

After school, I had to go to orchestra meeting and practice until late night and couldn't have normal life which other kids had.

I wanted to learn other instruments like flute.

At that time, my friend could play flute and everybody adored her.

It looked like she was the only one who could play flute, special, and I was just one of people who can play violin, ordinary.

I asked my mom if I could learn other instrument, but my mom had my future in her head and didn't want me to learn other than what she planned for me.

After I went to middle school, because I was in Korea, going to Academic School after school was my rutin and I would had to stay there studying until 11 PM. During final season, I would had to stay there until 3 AM.

One night I was stressed out completely and had figh with my mom.

At that time, I was trying to practice violin, so violin was out of the case.

At the end of the fight, the violin was broke and my bow as broke.

That was my only and last 4/4 violin.

After that incident, we didn't talk about violin.

Almost 8 year has passed...

Time by time I wished I had violin that I can play with but I didn't.

Now even though I get a chance to practice, I forgot how to play..

I realized just playing once or twice a year when I get a chance isn't enought.

I need my violin.

I looked for violin online for a year.

I always wanted electric violin but since I'm on stage of beginner, I thought I should buy acoustic one.. and then I would decide to think about it and when I look for violin again, the same thing happenes again..

I'm not looking for a thousand dollar violin but it was just hard to choose one or decide my mind to buy one.

Also, I didn't know which one to buy or wich one is good one.

While I was searching for violin again today, one website had this youtube video explaining violin's performance. Guess who was doing that~coffee2

Ha. It was you! Fiddlerman.

After I saw that, I came to this website, thought you sell those violin.

However, well. Nobody does this. Not that I know of so far.

I thank you truly.

It's pretty late to re-learn violin but nothing is always late to learn something.

Better start now than just sit there and only play with your mouth.

Weather I get this violin or not, soon, I WILL really. Tried to get my own violin but you said "let faith determine a winner from a drawing".

I thought it was meant for me to come here today.

As soon as I came here, I saw this video, (I always wanted black and electric violin) and learned about this raffle~ and one of the qualification was to write 10 posts in 5 separate days!!

Today is 2nd. I have exact 5 days left till the raffle!

2.3.4.5.6.

Maybe what I wrote here is just babble right out from my brain and doesn't make sense.. but I'm just so happy that I'm here and saw it.

God help me. God help you.

Noone needs to see the drawing to be eligible. I'll choose a winner and runner-up in case the winner can't be reached during the week or doesn't want the fiddle anymore.

Can you just redraw from the names if that happens, or not share the name of the runner-up? I wouldn't want to find out I almost won, and I'm sure I'm not the only one.

I am sure everyone posting is deserving of winning.  I think all music lovers are kindred spirits.  I have been playing the violin for two years now and love it so much.  It has brought such joy into my life.  I find when I play I don't have a care in the world.  I often find myself rushing to finish my chores and schoolwork so that I can just play my violin.

Playing the violin is like listening to my best friend.  It has become such an important part of me.  I feel as though I was mean't to play this instrument.  I feel priviledged everyday that I can play and was given this opportunity by parents.  I know it is a gift and I will  play the violin for the rest of my life and hopefully I will be able to teach my future children and grandchildren.

Good luck to everyone!!!!!

Thanks for your vote SanSkritA,

I take it you put them in order?
Is Jaden Moody your no. 1 vote? I thought that I would allow everyone just one vote.

I didn't set that many rules but the only problem I see with Jaden is that he has never played the violin. That doesn't mean he is not eligible.

Your location is great. Love the sound of that. There is actually a spot for putting your location and Facebook on your profile if you like. If you scroll to the very top of this page and click on Profile you will be able to enter that information so that everyone can see it. It would also be nice if you and others had a unique Avatar wether it be a picture or you, a fiddle, pet, anything you wish.

Thanks, yeah I have tried to upload an Avatar and so far this image that I upload is too big. Is there a way to change your settings to accomodate i larger  jpg? The current setting is tiny! Thanks for everything, this is a hopping site! cheers

OK, I changed it 20,000 bytes.

We don't want them to be too big because it could slow down the loading time slightly. Otherwise you can Resize online for free.

I made a post earlier today, I just wanted to say that I got to try out an electric violin at my school.  It was an awesome experience.  I would definitely love to own an electric violin one day.  I love theatrical rock and metal music.  I would love to be able to dance and jam on my electric violin on stage.  I think that would be so cool!

I hope it is not to late to join in, but if I am not eligible for the contest I am really glad I found this sight.  It is awesome and I know it will help me with playing my violin.....

Good luck everyone!!

Welcome to the forum DD,

Even if you don't qualify this time there will be at least 5 more raffles during the year and we will hopefully all get to know you better. Great group of violinists and fiddlers here.cheerleader
