Way cool John.  I love sea shanties.  They were generally never sung off of the ship, since they were work songs for hauling ropes and turning the capstan when weighing anchor. Nevertheless, many of them are fine tunes in their own right and it's really nice to learn some of the songs from the ships down under. One example of a sea shanty that is quite a pretty song is Shenandoah.

A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort. ~Herm Albright

Yes, Shenandoah is a nice tune. I have the music here somewhere. When I find it I'll post it :)

@Barry

Barry. Talk Like A Pirate Day is on the 19th of Sept. The project will probably run for a week after that for any that want to get aboard :)

Aloha @Ferret ,

That first one you offered was recorded by Gaelic Storm on their Herding Cats album.  I really like that one.  Have you heard of Gaelic Storm?  Unfortunately, they used a harmonica instead of a fiddle, but I've attached the song so you can listen to it.
