it seems like maybe ive shared this one but cant find it so risking another repeat. but

Some time around 2003 or 2004-ish I heard a track of this album on some NPR program... probably fresh air or hearts of space.. anyway bought the album and it used to be that music i just liked but knew little about.   didnt matter if it was scottish or irish ..whatever..it was just nice to listen to.   fast forward and one of the tracks after all this time played on pandora and brought it back up.

listening now is even better.  Its a small chamber ensemble mixed with trad musicians I believe.  The arrangements are what sets it apart for me.  Theres plenty of fiddlers that can play the heck out of tunes but when its arranged like this album it takes on a different feel...

theres one track that i thought the composers for the halo video game series music couldve been inspired from ... it just sounded that close

give it a listen when youre able to sit a while.  link to playlist with all tracks.

@ABitRusty -

I don't remember you posting about this anywhere.

Haven't heard this album - enjoyed listening!

Thank you!

Got hooked on Dougie MacLean with "The Gael" - and he's recorded it several times with different arrangements.

He definitely influenced my wanting to play the violin.

Interesting - the Scottish Ensemble evolved from Baroque, was only sponsered by British Telecom for 10 years (BT added only during that time) - they have a very long history as a collaborating string ensemble, many programs over the years for helping children/schools.  Their VERY diverse Playlists are delightful - definitely worth browsing!
