Just giving this thread a bump as a reminder.

Here are the instructions again.

1. Choose one of the parts -- the melody or the descant -- that you'd like to practice and play in the video. You can do both, if you want.

2. Shoot a video yourself playing the part using the click track in ear, using ear buds or headphones so that it's not audible on the recording.

  • Any kind of digital video recording device is fine: video camera, still camera in movie mode, tablet, phone, webcam.
  • Any common video file format will work: .avi, .mov, .wmv, mpeg2. If you edit your video, just don't send the native editing software file. Export it to one of the above formats.

3. Send your file(s) by February 15th using http://www.sprend.com to [email protected]. I will edit them together into one video similar to Fiddlerman's group project.

The sheet music and click track are below:

When the work's all done and the sun's settin' low,

I pull out my fiddle and I rosin up the bow.

Well, tomorrow is the deadline for our mini project, but I've only received videos - melody and descant - from one member (not me).

When I proposed February 15th as the deadline, I didn't realize that it's a Friday. Would it help if we extend the deadline to Tuesday, February 19th, so that you have the long holiday weekend* to make your video?

dunno

*It's a long weekend for U.S. residents; it's just a regular weekend for those outside the U.S., unless you coincidentally also have a holiday on Monday in your country.

When the work's all done and the sun's settin' low,

I pull out my fiddle and I rosin up the bow.

Sorry Diane as much as I want to make up a video I'm not sure I'll be able to.  Things went all sorts of Wacky here at the house and I don't have enough time before work to get it done.

The earliest I might be able to get it to you at this point is Sun.  But I'm sure you want to have it posted by then.  REALLY Sorry.

No, Dennis...the deadline was for folks to submit videos, not for me to get it posted. Yikes! I'd never make it!

fainting-1344

It will take me a little while to get it produced once I have everyone's videos. The reality is that I probably won't actually get started on it in earnest until the following weekend, so there is some wiggle room.

We need a deadline of some kind or it will never get done, but on the other hand, we need folks to participate, so...I'm open to negotiation.

:)

That's actually great news Diane, I honestly can't get anything done this week.

I was intending to hang my head in shame and just sneak off into the sunset.  But there's a remote chance I may get some time to myself on Tuesday.  Because that's a whole 12 hours before your Tuesday, I get another half a day.  Fingers crossed.  I'm not even going to try to explain, as it sounds like I'm once again making up excuses.

I have actually one recording of both parts, but it took me another 2 days to get new batteries and have a look at my efforts, when I realised I'm so out of tune it hurts my ears.  So a couple of days extra will help ... I hope.

I haven't forgotten.  I'm just not up to scratch.

You have to do like I always do Diane. Keep postponing the video and reminding folks. LOL

Congrats Naska! I really liked the off the strings bowing so much. It sounded so good for this style of tune.

Beautiful job, Naska! I love your interpretation of this tune.

thumbs-up

I got your video via Sprend. Thanks!

For everyone else, there's still plenty of time to get a video in! If you can get it over the weekend, great! But, it will take me some time to produce, so if you need a little more time, that's fine. Just let me know.

Well played Naska! (what happened at 0.52?).  You have not shared us about the usual annual performance.

Wrong intonation, LOL! My teacher always has fun of me about this, she still can't teach me to look OK when something goes wrong =)

I haven't shared, because i didn't have any camera on the last concert. Anyway, there was nothing good to share, LOL! My teacher said she wanted to kill me, while i played "Elves Dance"roflroflrofl

As always Naska, just when we think we are achieving something you push the bar even higher. Excellent, we keep getting something new to aim for, exactly what this site should be about, for the progression of all of us. Hopefully, we can also help to keep you on top of your game!!

I've been practicing like crazy in prep for my ABRSM exam in June. 3 pieces to learn, 21 scales and arpeggios, an aural test and a sight reading test.

This project has been a perfect distraction away from those regimented rigours, and I should hopefully be able to sprend a file by the end of play tomorrow.crossedfingers

I am amazed at how old people of my age are.....
