Oops, I typed the wrong name. The post above is for Pierre (@Fiddlerman). It looks like the photo is okay once I submitted it. It did not look like that when I uploaded the photo.

Hmm...I typed Fiddlerman and it's coming up as Fiddlerguy when I add the @ sign in front of it. Freaky. The photo of my strings is 3 posts up. Sorry for any confusion.

@Kim D to get FM use the "@" followed by "admin" - no quotes of course....
I seriously recommend not copying my mistakes. D'oh - 
Please make your own, different mistakes, and help us all learn :-)

Those are not only Larsen but Larsen Virtuoso. I can tell by the E string.
However, it's not certain without seeing the color in the scroll. Should be a solid light beige yellow color as apposed to the Red color ends on the regular Larsen. That E string is believe it or not, an original Larsen Virtuoso string. You may want to test a Westminster or Lenzner Goldbrokat E in the future. The Westminster will bring out the lower registers in a way. The Lenzner is just a pure fantastic string that tends to bring out the best of the other strings.

I guess that means that they are decent strings. I'm not doing them justice at the moment, but I'm having fun learning. I was kinda hoping that I had a hidden talent, but looks like a lot of time and hard work is ahead of me.

Even though they are great strings, we had a violin in here the other day that didn't sound great with them so I exchanged them for Dominant and it sounded better. That instrument was used to having Dominant and for some reason kind of needed them.
You never know from instrument to instrument which strings will suit best. Experimenting with different strings is not a bad thing.
