Thanks Mark ! My note reading is AWFUL though !! Hopefully it will improve the more I play. Part of the reason I don’t want to move onto third position.

thanks for watching I’ll keep going ! Haven’t been able to practice today but will be back in it first thing tomorrow!!

Intonation on the English country garden is Bob on, really nice tone as well, that's a great choice for the party.

Great playing, every tune you do is better than the last one

Thanks Sharon. Need to knuckle down and practice more though. I’ve got some really simple Vivaldi Spring music.

See what happens if you move your thumb opposite your index or middle finger and have it poking over the edge a little. Red desert is usually very good.

or maybe Yehudi can help

Yes I know my thumb is a long way back. I’ll experiment and have a watch. I feel like I can’t speed my vibrato up either maybe that is to do with my thumb. I’ll have a watch, thank you

Loads of practice for me lately, mostly practicing rhythms and combinations of rhythms.

I found a new piece , printed the music and played it from start to finish! Something I’ve never done before … !!

will record and share when it’s easier on the ears !!

Spring sounding really good, great tone and intonation, vivaldi is one of my favourite composers, heard this in a church played by a quartet in Manchester City centre the other week, excellent stuff. Keep it up.

Thank you Stringy and for watching !! Really appreciate your encouragement! 😀

So what I am about to post should come with a warning and I’m sorry about some terrible intonation especially at the beginning! However I thought I’d post the piece I’d been practicing for a few days !! Moon River ! Mostly concentrating on timing and getting the note lengths right. .. here goes …

Again, @Katie L, great job. I love the the sound of your violin. Your intonation is great! So jealous here! I have rogue fingers. The speed and sound is lovely.

I love that song! I tried that shortly after I got my violin. I also did it on my piano, one of the few that I could do.

I love that we are able to share with your progress. Thanks.

@Katie L  You’ve got the counting thing going on now!  Even when you slightly pause (to focus on what you’re playing), you’re counting.

This is a good tune to practice rhythm—as a slower tune, there would be a tendency to rush parts of it.  But you didn’t rush the long notes, and you gave proper timing to the 8ths (quavers).

Intonation is good—only a couple times slightly off.  It’s okay to let something go so that you can focus on something else while you are working on it.  I think this is one of the biggest hangups adult learners have—we identify ALL the things we need to work on, and we want to fix ALL of them at once.

Can definitely see the work you’ve put in on it—great job thumbs-up
