I figured that I would have a click track in the beginning of November and ask for the recordings around the middle or last two weeks of November. Should be able to post the video in the first week of December. Maybe even shoot for November 27th which is the first Sunday of Advent.

Great job,

You'll be a great addition to the project. You have great posture for the most part. Your left elbow could be slightly more under the violin. That will give you a better reach.

Your intonation is very good for the most part so you probably hear what is wrong but I'll give you a few anyway. Your Bb (on the D string) is often a little high and your G on the same string is slightly low. That being said, your positions are coming along great, though this is your first post so I have nothing but your comments to compare to. Practice smooth shifting over and over till the awkwardness diminishes. Do the same shift 100 times if you have to.

exactly

I love your right hand movements. <--- model for others to check out.

It would be real cool if you added even more articulation to your performance.
I hear and see that you are making dynamics and I love it but would enjoy even more if you dare.cool

Lastly, I love to see players smile and have fun as you do in your performance here.

Thanks Mad_Wed, I really enjoyed watching it. cheerleader

She is using less pressure and turning the bow away from the violin/clockwise.
Ways to get soft sound:

  • Play further from the bridge. Closer to the fingerboard.
  • Use less bow pressure.
  • Turn the bow to use less hair.
  • Play with the upper half (the bow is lighter this way)

Way cool MW I like your style. We got another hippie in our Fiddlerman family. I hear that you can really hear the notes in your head. On this song at least I would suggest to take some longer bow strokes and relax a little more on your hand positions. And as FM suggested play it over n over again until your hands are sliding into the right note. You sound great! Good job!

Wow that was great Mad_Wed! I see you have a real bandanna for the part!!!! I soooo need to get one of those! A friend of mine would love that!!!!  roflol

I am going to start practicing violin 4 more seriously.... - I can't do vibrato though,(I start slamming the violin into my neck back and forth.... not pretty...) and I can try to practice fading it out using those tips, ty FM... I thought it sounded easy from the MIDI, then I saw the video and said.. "Egads!! I will probably have to be able to read music!!"

I will still plug in the MIDI to my TablEdit and practice at 60 and see what I can do. I wish I could put PDF's in there but it's the way it goes. Thank you sooooooooooooo much for providing a MIDI at all. MIDI's make playing possible!! (so I can get tabs and play along with them..... *scuffs and hangs her head*)

On "Cheap eBay violins" … Just tell people they are like a Charlie Brown Christmas Tree.  With a little love, and some practice, they too can be made beautiful.

You are welcome. If I'd known that I could have included midis with all my sheet-music. I always do the sheet-music with Finale and it's real easy to save a midi.
