🤣Thank you!
Your comments are really appreciated!
🤔 Now, that I've recorded this - I see there's still much I'd do differently.
It's hard to believe that Parties started 11 months ago - and I have to credit them with most of the improvement I've been able to achieve during this time.
Without these Parties, I don't think I'd record myself... except for maybe a Fiddlerman Group Project - and I wouldn't be able to tell what I needed to work on or change.
AND, I certainly wouldn't have the confidence to play in front of others that I do, now!
...mistakes and all. (lol)
Oh btw, I chose music from Christmas CD's, and didn't think about it until afterwards - a couple of the tunes may be more 'Winter Season', than 'Christmas' (sorry).

I second Emily’s comments.
I used recording (and also a live camera set up so that I could watch my bow moving real time as I looked at a monitor), using Applebaum’s Building Technic with Beautiful Music vol 1, to work on my bowing. And, although I played in an ensemble for about for two years, this time last year was the first time I performed duets live in front of anyone (it’s a little different when there is only one of you playing a part).

“Winter season” is fine – I indicated all Christmas related - I think that can be broadly interpreted

Really appreciated you watched! 🤗
I was exhausted when I recorded (I still am), so just tried to play the right notes - still totally lost it on the last tune. (lol) It IS starting to get easier to keep my elbow under more and balance my thumb under the neck when I need to.
So much more work to do - eventually want control to sustain different speeds of vibrato for a long time. Sure is slow going when I've been trying to play cleaner and more in tune. You know how it is! 🤪

Oh man, back after a few days - so much to catch up with !!!
Gimme some time and I'll trawl back through the posts I've missed - I'll open a second browser page on the same thread and read back (and comment here! LOL) - OK - let's see what Santa has brought us since I was last on ! I have high expectations !
First - have I REALLY been away for 5 days ? It appears so !
LOL - right - a goodly number of minutes later I believe I've caught up- and my sincere apologies if I have missed anyone's work since I last posted - but I believe I have them all ! So here goes Fiddlerman Family Players -
@wtw - ahhh you say "not a carol" - aww come on - it's all in the spirit of Xmas tunes - well done and I like the self-duet !!! TYVM for posting !
@ELCBK - good grief - I often do a "two for the price of one video" - WHAT WAS THAT lassie???? TEN for the price of one LOLOL haha, so much fun, TY. And yes, as others referred to, not just the "low C" but the overall tonality of the instrument is very nice. Nicely done and TYVM for sharing! I noticed you responded somewhere - hang on - yes it was on SharonC's post - "Without these Parties, I don't think I'd record myself... except for maybe a Fiddlerman Group Project - and I wouldn't be able to tell what I needed to work on or change. AND, I certainly wouldn't have the confidence to play in front of others that I do, now! " Aye, I get exactly what you're saying there - back in the earlier days of the forum (with a significantly lesser number of members - probably around 2500 - 3000) we ( Barry and myself) convinced, sweet-talked and cajoled a few folks to stream live on SJ and EVERYONE simply "grew inn confidence" for particiapting. Nowadays, we (the forum members) just don't have the interest for getting on to SJ - but - as you say - "without the parties" - that sums it up.... it gets folk "out there, and sharing where they are in their playing" - and it's really working well. It seems to have all "reversed" - there were always "parties" - but participation was poor.
@Mark - mark - first noel - hmmmm, so envious of your shifting ability there man! I don't "go down that road" very much (Although I know I SHOULD LOL)
and when I do, well, it takes at least 10 dry-runs to get close-enough to it sounding right... REALLY WELL DONE and TY !
@SharonC We 3 kings self-duet - love the sound of it - nicely chosen harmonisation with partial chords and (it sounded like) 5ths - cool - enjoyed that a lot! TYVM !
OK - I feel bad now for not doing more - I did (well still do) have a couple of "fun" pieces in mind - and - well, if - OK - when - I WILL do it - get the kit set up I'll post a final couple of pieces from me for the party !
Thanks so much to everyone who has so far participated - even if I missed anyone's post/posts - but I have tried to catch them all - so a super well done to you all and hoping you, your family and friends all have a peaceful and relaxing time over the holiday period !

What about your "Auld Lang Syne" for Hogmanay?
Already planned Emily ! @ELCBK - but don't quite know how to make it into a "party" - which would be good!
Hogmanay is not "owned by us Scots" (although, it often feels like it) and I was kind of thinking of a party - but didn't want to "call it out" as a Scottish themed Hogmanay/New-year themed thing. That might be overly specific.
Haven't yet thought enough about it to arrive at a more-general "New Year" party theme/title- maybe simply THAT - "New Year 2022 Slam Dunk Fiddling Party" - play ANYTHING you want, to simply have FUN, party-on in general, regardless of tune type, style, origin etc - a kind of eclectic-mix would be good - just folks playing for the sake of playing to entertain and share - that's really what Hogmany celebrations are over here (albeit weighted towards trad Scots - but - only slightly - everything is welcomed- and especially when unexpected !)
Yeah - I like the idea "New Year 2022 Slam Dunk Fiddling party"....
Have other things to do right now - but - in a couple of days - look out for something along those lines !!!

Thanks & same to you! 🥰
A little late to post this (and I may have posted it somewhere else), but in case anyone has been bitten by the 'Christmas Carol bug' - here's a site with well over 4,000 Christmas Carols & Hymns to explore and learn to play!
The Hymns and Carols of Christmas

...think I'm finally done looking at Christmas music - just not done playing it all! (lol)
